We do not want what we want, we want what is just and honorable. There is nothing just or honorable in the media or DC these these days. Unfortunately, itās their way or the highway. The almighty dollar trumps(no pun intended) everything. I canāt help but feel that the America I grew up in is lost. We never locked our doors, weāre kind and respectful to each other, we believed in God & help our neighbors and those less fortunate. We didnāt need welfare or free anything. Even at my age, I still find it horrifically STUPID (that' my word for today), that democrats can call Republicans violent when they don't get their way - this is after they put 66 million unborn babies in the grave before they have learned to take their first step. As someone who cares very much about your wellbeing I'd like to remind you that your [more or less] hero, Christopher Hitchens, complained long ago about "shrewd sloppiness beginning to enter the dialectic." Well, we're there. We're now beyond the point it makes sense to fight over any and all words beginning with a capital letter ---Democracy, Fascism, blah, blah. We've so debased language that more than half the country labels opposition to mandates "Racism." Here's my proposal --from here on let's only go to bat for constitutional principles as they were (up till roughly 2 years ago) authoritatively construed by the Supreme Court....meaning we don't defend January 6th as an exercise in Democracy, we merely maintain we've got the right to assemble and petition the government for a redress of grievances [i.e., no one gets to talk like Patrick Henry anymore]. It's time to force the folks driving you crazy into a paragraph by paragraph refutation of the bill of rights ...cuz they're switching it out on us [without even doing us the courtesy of going about it straightforwardly...or legally].
The number of writers who are far more credentialed than Nichols and publish similar pieces on much larger platforms are too numerous to count (Paul Krugman, Bret Stephens, etc). They do so with regularity and target the exact same audience. Raheem, while I share your frustration Iām quickly reminded that galvanizing the readership of the Atlantic against Republicans is about as impactful as the pop guns we just handed the Ukrainians. The real travesty of Tom Nichols is the fact that he teaches at the Naval War College, a depot for aspiring generals looking to be branded with the imprimatur of high minded academia. It is no wonder that CRT is taught at the service academies and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs sounds like Ibram Kendiās next co-author. Tom Nichols is one of many academics quietly poisoning the military from the top down. And it may be too late.

Every elected office holder that voted for any gun restrictions and attacked our Bill of Rights by violating our 2nd Amendment has violated their Oath of Office and Must be voted out of office or Recalled ASAP!!
It has always amazed me how these types of people call out others for what they themselves are doing. They call us racist when they show their racism so clearly. They scream that we are destroying "our democracy" when we protest and work to show the proof of a stolen election. A big tell is that phrase "our democracy" when this country is (supposed to be) a republic with democratically elected representatives.
I have nothing but contempt for people who spout their opinions in media to us about what VALUES we should possesses and how we should live/vote/think/behave/believe then switch their, so called, political allegiance 180 degrees and continue to spout what VALUES we should possesses from the opposite spectrum. These people have no values apart from pursuit of the almighty dollar.
