Would it not be a perfect circle if the heaving sweating hordes of illegals storm the Gala and ....

I believe Wintour's choice was a deliberate one - after all, she is a nihilist and an upstanding member of a death cult. She is the poster girl for depraved ambition, who is fast-becoming a ruin

I'm afraid the sweating hordes wouldn't stop at the Gala. Your plot line is reminiscent of the scene on the beach in the film, "Suddenly Last Summer," where the impoverished and put-upon boys break through the fence to tear apart and eat the sexual predator, Sebastian.

The hordes of the short story did not stop at the villa but the villa was gone by the time they got there. Do read the story, there is a link below.

But where is the link?

Send the Columbia red guards and illegals to the Met for struggle sessions against Anna Wintour and her commissars. The CEO of TikTok is chairing the gala. Let them eat cake and devour each other.

Most of the attendees are big Party of Death (formerly Dem Party) donors. That would be SWEET.

Maybe the illegals and the Hamasniks can get together....

A perfect metaphor chosen by sophisticates who in their shallow arrogance believe they are the Count and Countess Axel when, in reality, they are the vanguard of the amoral horde. Thank you, Raheem.

Guess they never made it to the conclusion. They are trying to script their own end, just like upper class Russians circa 1917. Never turns out that way.

The decline of Christianity in the West, has gone along with, and been the major cause of the decline, and imminent collapse of Western CHRISTIAN civilization, just as it was the major factor in its rise to world dominance. The West has largely come to despise its Christian identity. It despises its SELF! Negative self-image leads to self-destructive behaviors. One comes to believe that one deserves negative outcomes, and takes steps to confirm one's belief. Thus the "camp of the saints" has welcomed the barbarians into its gates.

I think you've insufficiently identified the source of antipathy.

Raheem,

While I loathe this pageantry, the pretentiousness of the never ending bob, Anna Wintour,, her cheapening of this event over the decades, and the sickening vapidity of the guests., I have to admit, I love the museum.

It's sad that the glorious paintings of Impressionists and Old Masters, the arms of knights, the period rooms, and the American, and Asian courts, must suffer at the hands, of the staff's ridiculous politics and sophomoric stances. As well as those, of the gala's entitled guests, who contribute little more to the betterment of mankind, than flatus. This event used to celebrate the history, and hard work, of creating garments, and it had become a freak show, without any meaning.

However, I refuse to turn my back on the artist's works, despite how much I would love to tell the Met to F off. My means of boycott, is to ignore the press about the gala, and not give a second of my precious time, watching the arrivals. I would not be surprised, if some self important toolbag, wore a politically charged gown, to the event.🤮🤮.

There is always that. AOC got in with a Tax The Rich printed dress. Eric Adams, the failed mayor of this city, had a dollar sign on his suit coat. The Garden of Time is a more perfect metaphor for Wintour and her ilk than she can appreciate.

Very insightful imagery Raheem. As these clueless elite's rub their wealth in our faith and kick slop our way.

Beautifully written, as always. I think I will always see the Met gala this way, after your insights. I remember the old Met gala days, when it was the NY 400 in luxe evening gowns wineing and dining. Now it's all celebrities, repulsively decked out. Love the art too!

Gee, I wonder if those attending will dress as illegals for the "gala"? Or better yet, anti-Israel protesters complete with masks...you know 'cause "art".

I believe their time is over and that is why Wintour picked Garden of Time as the theme. However, it is over on our terms - the horde is an incidental allegory, a present/future we see playing out in a billion awakenings like stars across the planet - this becomes our time and none of us are sitting around picking flowers in an inevitable scenario of gloomy demise. Keep it coming.

Hmmm. The Garden of Time was published the same year as The Garden of the Finzi-Continis by

Giorgio Bassani.

I found a link to The Garden of Time in PDF here: https://readerslibrary.org/wp-content/uploads/The-Garden-of-Time.pdf

Reminded me of Milton's Paradise lost.

My wife said she knew the story and had read a lot of "Jimmy" Ballard's stories back in the day.

The Garden of the Finzi-Continis would be a very fitting story to read particularly with the treatment of Jewish students at the colleges right now. Though it would never be a theme for the Met Gala, though maybe it should.

This is all about elitism and not themes. I've never seen such a horror show in my life. There are more important things going on, but these people only care about what to wear. This could end tomorrow and the only people who would care are the uppity people who attend.

The horde in Ballard’s “Garden of Time” does not comprise the poor, the uneducated and the unsophisticated. Ballard’s rabble is a metaphor for those who reject God and the quest for knowledge and beauty, those who choose to indulge their appetites, consuming everything in their path, including the highest cultures.

But the Met Gala pretenders take this selfishness one perverse step further by proudly declaring, “Look at me! I am beauty! I am culture! I am the end of all human striving!”

"I am a woman who is on display for the eyes of the world barely covered by cloth. I am a man wearing a ball gown." Perverse grotesquerie.

Indeed. Sophistication is not a virtue. To sophisticate is to render impure by mixing an inferior substance, to adulterate, to render artificial, to corrupt or spoil, to falsify.

I suggest it's high time we got back to basics.
