I agree with your assessment. Making excuses for your rhetoric makes it less effective. It’s like apologizing before you give someone constructive criticism. Very nonsensical.

Excellent review. You had me looking up definition below so even better. Your central point of too much time spent excusing the inexcusable or what should be (it’s a fucking joke, get over it). Countless comedians today complain their craft which is by far the most terrifying of all live performance arts, is dead due to snowflake cancel culture. I grew up with counter culture, Lenny Bruce, Andy Kaufman and even dead baby jokes! To shock and offend was the objective and to apologize would have been unthinkable. And now the WEF has speakers seriously arguing to re-examine free speech. This shit is all connected and the end result is nefarious and draconian. We must push back. Thought nazis must be confronted because they represent pure evil. If this offends anybody, good. Go fuck yourself!

I must add, I'm so disappointed. I was looking forward to laughing hysterically and forgetting that our horrible government has sold us to the party of Davos (looking forward to your website devoted to the WEF BTW). I loved "Life On The Road" and OMG the Golden Globes 2020 monolog is absolutely magnificent. I praised "After Life" to anyone who would listen, primarily because of its brilliant ability to make you laugh and cry literally at the same time. What was he thinking? So deflated.

I get a kick out of Ricky Gervais - especially after what he said at the Golden Globes.

His series AFTER LIFE was amazing because he was his irreverent self and on the surface it was comical - but by the time it ended you realize how sensitive and insightful it really was.

This is a funny interview. I think in our current hyper-sensitive culture, Ricky was basically sticking his toe in to test the water with his new show and going after transgenderism ESPECIALLY right now is very courageous. Once he sees that he can get away with it - I think he will be more himself, as he was in this brief interview!

Gervais has something to lose. So he's less edgy.

I haven’t seen either. But from what I’ve heard from him he’s pretty funny.
