BRIEF REVIEW: Larry David's In-Kind Donation to Georgia Democrats.
Curb Your Enthusiasm's final season has kicked off with a double header of leftist talking points.
Well, they ruined Seinfeld in the series finale, so why would Curb Your Enthusiasm be any different? As soon as you saw the return of the Black Family (their name, by the way) – the weakest story arc in the whole series – you knew you were in for some dross. Warning: spoilers beyond this point.
In the season’s opening episode, we’re treated to the returning Auntie Rae, sweating in line at a polling station, before Larry David hands her a bottle of water and is promptly arrested under the recently passed Election Integrity Act.
Stacey Abrams, Bruce Springsteen, and cook-out chomping African Americans laud Larry as as their personal hero for the act. He’s even compared to Rosa Parks. By the second episode, he’s mocking a blacked-up lawn jockey who is sweating hair dye.
“It’s Giuliani! No wonder I thought he looked like an asshole!” David exclaims, in the unfunniest moment of the show so far. And that includes the episodes with Rosie O’Donnell.
In fact, Curb producer Jeff Schaffer told The Hollywood Reporter they had the Giuliani lawn jockey specially made: “If you go out and look for a Giuliani-looking lawn jockey, you’re going to be disappointed. I want to tell everyone that right now. We had to make a Giuliani-looking lawn jockey.”
None of this is fiction. Though the notion of it all is funnier than the Curb plot line right now, which is due to carry on with Larry fighting the Georgia Election Integrity law for several episodes yet.
“I don’t know if Giuliani knows how a television remote even works, so I don’t know if he’s going to see it,” Schaffer quips, in another side-splitting dig at the Mayor who led New York through 9/11.
But you know what’s really funny, to me? The Blacks aren’t even from Georgia. As any show watcher would know. They moved in with Larry back in Season 6 (2007) when a hurricane ruined their home in… Louisiana.
That’s a different place, Mr. Schaffer. I know all those “black folk” come from “down south” somewhere. I know they all look and sound the same. And I know it's all basically one big sweaty cookout as far as you Harvard-degree Hollywood types are concerned. But there is a difference, I assure you.
If only you paid as much attention to the detail of your own show as you do to assisting Georgia Democrats right as Fani Willis takes the stand.
After two episodes of Curb so far, I give it, well a 2/10.
It is an absolute shame they ruined the last season but not surprised. Used to be a huge Curb fan but will not watch this season now. Maybe they should redo the Palestinian Chicken episode?
Larry David IS the definition of a USEFUL IDIOT! He’s NOT funny at all. An ungrateful idiot with too much money who’s completely out of touch with reality. He sees through one lens and through a shitty show pushes his liberal agenda. Who actually watches that 💩? It’s offensive.
Hope someone makes a lawn jockey of Larry David, puts it next to a fire hydrant, then videos a bunch of dogs showing obvious preference to pee on Larry David instead. Now that’s funny!! 😝
