On Being Plagiarized.
Suddenly, Hunter Biden's hard drive is relevant again. But corporate media outlets refuse to credit our reporting from 2020.
Last week Glenn Kessler from the Washington Post called me. I missed the call. I telephoned him back. Washington, D.C. is a one-party consent state for recording such encounters. More on my insistence on that another time.
Kessler’s interest in The National Pulse was our scoop from Hunter Biden’s hard drive. Biden’s firm, Rosemont Seneca Technology Partners, was one of the largest investors in Metabiota, which was running biolab experiments out of Ukraine. It was all there, in black and white, on the “hard drive from hell.”
Kessler admitted to me he had seen the e-mails and our reporting, but enquired – in a Twitter Direct Message to my colleague Natalie Winters – if we were engaged in “an effort to launder Russian disinformation.”
Yes, you read that right. He admitted knowledge of the e-mails (and also did not claim anything in our reporting was inaccurate). But because the Kremlin also knew about this – and had shared some graphic alluding to it that morning –naturally the Washington Post’s allegation was that Mr. Putin got my cell number (presumably from Nigel Farage or another of those pesky “Russian agents”) and text me that morning before I dutifully put together a totally different story based on a similar premise.
In the minds of the Kessler’s of the world, this can be the only possible outcome. Though Glenn did DM Natalie again, after our call, explaining that he often “jump[s] to conclusions.”
A deeply reassuring character trait in the Washington Post’s “Fact Checker.”
But perhaps the most egregious part of the renewed Hunter Biden saga was the Daily Mail’s
reporting outright plagiarism of the work of Natalie Winters published a day before their own.
Obviously, the hard drive is in a lot of hands now. But when the topic of Ukraine became a flashpoint at the beginning of this year, I began sifting through the information again. That’s when we found the new Metabiota links, and began piecing information together. For the record, we had already written about Hunter and Metabiota last June. At the time not even the conservative media nor the social media “influencers” or talking heads were willing to re-report or follow up on. It’s lonely out there for us.
Until it’s not.
And while some including POLITIFACT *shudder* are willing to assert how far ahead The National Pulse was, my work in attempting to get both the Daily Mail and Washington Post to appropriately credit us has fallen on deaf ears. Much like the original reporting we did from the drive.
Josh Boswell from the Mail refuses to respond. The Washington Post pretend they credit by mentioning, “some other folks reported on this already.” For the record, I wasn’t attempting to solicit a credit for the general CEFC reporting as Peter Wallsten tries to dance around, below. Much of that work was done by Emma Jo Morris at the NY Post (see, it’s not hard to credit!)
Of course, corporate news media outlets are chagrined to give credit to a couple of Russian disinfo peddlers like me and Ms. Winters. But the conservative media falling for this trap – citing the Mail – is all the answer you need to question of why we are stuck with a corrupt journalistic class. Because, much like the corrupt lawyers, the corrupt election officials, the corrupt cultural icons and institutions, and the corrupt medical and pharmaceutical establishments: conservative media spends more time prostrate to these guys than challenging them. And almost no time endorsing and lifting up good reporters on their own side. It happens too much, which Jesse Kelly was good enough to let me complain about on his show this week.
The National Pulse was the first to report on the pandemic origins case, the links between Peter Daszak and Anthony Fauci, and how Daszak had crystal clear conflicts of interest when attending the COVID-19 origins committee. Now, that is accepted as gospel. At the time, we were maligned, mocked, and de-platformed for suggesting as much.
The National Pulse was the first to report the intricate links between the Transition Integrity Project, the inevitable election steal, and the Zuckerberg cash. We credit our sources, then, but were routinely ridiculed both by the right and left. Now, the Conservative, Inc. commentators are minting money off books and movies on the subject. Not so much as a peep of credit in our direction. Oh and Twitter removed our account for this reporting.
Oh, and remember who had the first piece up dragging the establishment narrative on January 6th? Yep. That was us, too.
The list, as you know, goes on. For instance, I’ve been banging my head against the wall for a decade on Ukraine. So much so that I went there during the Maidan revolution to investigate on the matter. What I learned allowed me the ability to advise politicians like the aforementioned Farage, who was rightly credited by Tucker Carlson for his 2014 European Parliament speech.
So what’s the point of this? Well: a couple of things.
Firstly, I know many of you want a firm answer as to why the hard drive is now being accepted as fact, and no longer Russian disinformation. It’s pretty much as simple as you think. Mumbly Joe is now too much of a liability for the apparatus that put him into place. He’s already very open about being given his marching order and cue cards at his press conferences. It’s only a matter of time before he admits something really shocking on national television. Therefore, it’s open season on Biden family corruption. Get him gone.
Another constituent part of that is Republicans in Washington, D.C. are already foolishly spiking the football (did I use that phrase correctly?) about the mid term elections. Handing them the hard drive and tricking them into talking about impeachment before the election is the partisan noose they need to hang themselves with. I hope to God they don’t fall for it. Not that the McLeadership of Kevin McCarthy, Ronna McDaniel, and Mitch McConnell is going to yield much of value for the right.
Secondly, I suppose I just needed to vent, and let you know that running a two-person investigative operation diving into some of the most dangerous and verboten topics on planet Earth – being brutalized in the media along the way – then being vindicated though rarely cited, is the most exhausting part of doing what we do at The National Pulse.
But, we’ll keep doing it. With our heads high. Knowing that we run circles around both corporate and much of conservative media. And if you can lend us some support – especially given how they’ve taken our e-mail service providers, social media accounts, and even our own exclusives away from us. Well, we’d sure appreciate it.
Raheem, FWIW the first thing I thought when I saw the Mail article was "Wait, didnt the National Pulse have this months ago?
Thanks to you and Natalie for all you do. You're making a difference!
OK, folks, some love for Raheem! I've been with you since Breitbart London days. Always glad to support. And I'd add some love for Ms. Winters, but that's a given for any red-blooded American guy like me, even if she weren't such a brilliant reporter.
The GOP is going to do it's best to keep the status quo. That's $$ for Kevin, Turtle, and all shades Romney. You know that. You and Natalie have to keep hammering on them.
My A-number-1 is the covid crime, jab fraud. When will Repubbies put that on the front burner and go after Fauci and the gang? Never, I tell you. Again $$. Sad but fortunate for us, the Left can't hide the bodies anymore, and the GOP couldn't even if they tried.
